Russian Summer School on Institutional Analysis (RSSIA 2012)

The Center for Institutional Studies, Higher School of Economics (CInSt , HSE), announces the call for papers for the Russian Summer School on Institutional Analysis 2012. The Summer School is aimed at creating and supporting the academic network of young researchers from all regions of Russia as well as from CIS and other countries, who work in the field of New Institutional Economics. The schedule of the Summer School includes lectures, seminars and plenty of possibilities for discussion and communication. This year we will focus on possibilities and challenges of applied research in the institutional economics framework.

Participation

Among those who are encouraged to participate are researchers, teaching staff, PhD students and advanced Master students. Priority in the selection will be given to research projects that are related to the following fields:

  • Economics of public sector, bureaucracy, and procurement
  • Economics of education
  • Industrial organization, government regulation, and law enforcement

The working language of the Summer School is English.

This year participants will have the opportunity:

  • to attend the lectures of distinguished experts in various spheres of institutional economics and adjoining disciplines: Manuel Bagues (Universidad Carlos III), Francisco Martinez Mora (University of Leicester), John Nye (George Mason University), Russell W. Pittman (Antitrust Division, U.S. Department of Justice), Carine Staropoli (Université Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne);
  • to follow the special class on how to make a successful research in Economics;
  • to present and discuss their current research projects during seminars;
  • to exchange the research experience with other RSSIA participants and experts.

There is no registration fee. Organizers cover participants’ accommodation and meals costs. However participants will have to cover their travel and visa costs themselves.

How to apply

Applications should be submitted via Application form . An application includes:

  • Registration form (should be filled in online);
  • Motivation letter (no longer than 300 words);
  • Current research project description (no longer than 1500 words + references) with a short abstract (no longer than 200 words).

Current research project description should be in English (MS Word, Times New Roman, size 12, space 1.5, standard margins) and must include the following parts, titled and clearly separated in the text (the proposals, which do not satisfy the requirements, will not be accepted):

  • Introduction
  • Aim of the project;
  • Hypotheses and methodology;
  • Results;
  • References.
